About the Event

Join Soft Power author Robert Winder in conversation with Rosie Goldsmith in this live event at the Town Hall Pillar Room.

In Soft Power Robert Winder reveals the ways in which modern states are asserting themselves not through traditional realpolitik but through business, language, culture, ideas, sport, education, music, even food. Exploring the varied ways in which it operates: an English garden in Ravello; a French vineyard in Australia; Japan seducing the world with chic food and smart computer games; Winder argues that soft power’s quiet ingredients – education, science, trade and cultural values – may be the only force supple enough to tackle the challenges of future global relations. Chaired by Rosie Goldsmith
