About the Event

In her elegantly written book Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again: Women and Desire in the Age of Consent, Katherine Angel interrogates understandings of female desire. From Freud to Kinsey to present-day science; MeToo-era debates over consent, assault, and feminism; popular culture, TV, and film, she challenges our assumptions about female desire. She’ll be joined by Raven Leilani, a bold and talented new voice in contemporary fiction. In her novel Luster, Leilani addresses many of Angel’s themes. Her protagonist navigates a sort-of-agreed–to open marriage following hook-up after hook-up in a provocatively page-turning story that considers what it is to be young now.

Guiding the conversation around this crucial moment of renewed attention to violence and power will be writer and academic Hannah Dawson. She is the author of The Penguin Book of Feminist Writing, a global anthology of feminist writers.
